MEADVILLE —
Marvin H. (Dutch) Shick, 73, of Meadville, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on June 8, 1938, in Templeton, he was a son of Carl G. and Elmo Willison Shick. He married Deanna Schreckengost on March 21, 1955, in Distant.
After high school, Dutch attended barber school and went to work at the Kerrtown Barber Shop in 1956. He later became the owner. This business eventually became the Boot Box, which he owned and operated with his wife for 34 years, and is still in operation today.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his beloved family. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Meadville as well as spending time in Val d’Or, Canada, with Deanna. He loved hunting, fishing and collecting antiques. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 408.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Batka and her husband, John, of Meadville; two grandsons, Dillon Artice, and Dalton Artice and his fiancée, Ashlee Baker, all of Meadville; three great-grandchildren, Tailor McGee, Deanna Artice and Dakohta Artice; a sister, Wanita Shick; a nephew, Michael Shick; and longtime family friends, Matthew Higham and his family and Rhonda Woodrow and her family, all of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Calling hours are Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

A Masonic service will be conducted Saturday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Watson Run Church Cemetery, South Watson Run Road, Meadville.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
