GREENVILLE —
John N. Calvin Jr., 79, of 94 Hadley Road, Greenville, formerly of Hartstown, passed away at 6:17 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
Born June 17, 1933, in Hartstown, he was the son of the late John Nelson Calvin Sr. and Marion Irene (Lane) Calvin. On March 24, 1951, he married Dixie L. (Herrick) Calvin; she preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2010.
He worked at Conrail in Greenville in signal maintenance for 20 years and attended Stateline United Methodist Church in Jamestown.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and outdoor yardwork.
He is survived by two sons, Randall L. Calvin and his wife, Rose, of Adamsville, and Douglas W. Calvin and his wife, Kimberly, of Linesville; a daughter, Shelly L. Zickefoose and her husband, Sam, of Linesville; a sister, Carol Faye Shacklock and her husband, Lawrence, of Masury, Ohio; a brother, Edward Calvin and his wife, Sandra, of Hartstown; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Calvin and his wife, Noelle, Laura Calvin and Timothy Calvin all of Greenville, and Amber Prestegard, Brandon Prestegard and Tyler Calvin, all of Linesville; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Kaye Porter.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Randall Funeral Home, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
The funeral is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Goodnough of Grace United Methodist Church, Meadville, officiating.
Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
