WEXFORD —
Mabelle I. Vogt, 84, of Wexford, formerly of Condit Road, New Vernon Township, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in UPMC Passavant after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 25, 1928, in Athens Township, Crawford County, she was a daughter of Wayne K. and Elise R. Smith Langworthy.
She was a 1945 graduate of Bloomfield High School. In her early years she worked at the Isaly’s Store of Titusville and later retired from Polk Center in 1991 after 20 years of service as a residential service aide.
She had been a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, New Vernon Township.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing and gardening.
Her first husband, Edward (Bud) Roess, whom she married Oct. 25, 1946, passed away Nov. 24, 1965. Her second husband, John R. Vogt, whom she married July 2, 1966, preceded her in death March 21, 2012.
Mabelle is survived by four children, Pamela Watson and her husband, Busch, of Atlanta, Ga., Lynda Roess of Hadley, Edward Steven Roess and his wife, Brenda, of Hattiesburg, Miss., and John W. Vogt and his wife, Gwen, of Wexford; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three adopted grandchildren and two adopted great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Enright and her husband, Con, of Titusville; and a brother, David Langworthy and his wife, Betty, of Rainier, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and two sisters.
Calling Hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
The funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Susan M. Hoover, pastor of Methodists United In Faith, officiating.
Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery, New Vernon Township.
