Alva J. Hosick Sr., 61, of Meadville died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

He was born April 4, 1948, in Meadville, a son of Edward W. and Cordia Thompson Hosick Sr. He married Elizabeth Kiddle Dec. 13, 1973, and she survives.

He was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School in Hershey. He worked for All-American Gas Station/Car Wash for 10 years and previously worked for Avtex Inc. for 19 years, John’s BP Gas Station and Quality Markets. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and watching football and sports on TV.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Elizabeth, include a son, Alva J. Hosick Jr. of Meadville; a sister, Doris Reagle and her husband, Jim, of Franklin, N.C., and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward W. Hosick Jr. and Kenneth Lee Hosick.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. W. Dale Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood (Porters Corners) Cemetery.
