Anthony Monico Sr., 81, of Leslie Road, Meadville, went home to be with his beloved wife, Theresa, and God at Meadville Medical Center Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.
His deep faith in God sustained him over the recently troubling times with his health while at Wesbury United Methodist Nursing Home. He kept up the fight to regain his health until the very end.
Anthony was born April 14, 1928, in Meadville, a son of the late Jeanette Musica Monico and Frank Monico Sr. On June 26, 1948, he married Theresa (Messina) Monico, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Adeline; and his brothers, Alex Monico of Meadville and John Monico of College Park, Md.
He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Meadville and a life-member of the Italian Civic Club of Meadville.
Anthony worked at Frontier Homes, Heatrex, Westinghouse and Sunbeam Equipment Corp. that later became SECO/Warwick and retired from there. He was an excellent duckpin bowler in the 1940s and 1950s and later a skilled 10-pin bowler. Anthony was also an avid golfer and enjoyed watching golf and football on television with his sons and family. He gave up those sports to care for his wife, Theresa, who battled Multiple Sclerosis for nearly 30 years.
He is survived by his brother Frank and Angie Monico of Meadville; three sons, Anthony Monico Jr. and Debra Monico of Chicago, Ill., Charles A. and Mary Jo Monico of Orlando, Fla., and Nickolas F. and Marcia Monico of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Nathan Limano Monico, Cierra Rose Monico, Benjamin Anthony Monico and Cara Nicole Monico.
