MEADVILLE —
Catherine Carmella Maziarz, 86, of 10484 Krider Road, Meadville, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at home.
Catherine was born in Lorraine, Ohio, on Sept. 19, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Ciu. On July 5, 1947, Catherine married Chester S. Maziarz; he preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2009.
She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and its Altar Rosary Society.
In 1986 Catherine retired from the former Talon Inc. of Meadville after 40 years of service. She was a 1941 graduate of Meadville High School.
Her hobbies included reading, traveling and gambling.
Catherine is survived by a son, John J. Maziarz and his wife, Audrey, of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Maziarz of Meadville; a grandson, Leland Maziarz; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Chester, of 62 years, Catherine was preceded in death by a son, Frank Maziarz; and three brothers Galven, Angelo and Augustine Ciu.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Father Mark O’Hern, Pastor of St. Brigid, as celebrant.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
