Valerie Ann Porter

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Valerie Ann Porter, 41, resident of 21293 Center St. Ext., Cambridge Springs, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, shortly after being admitted. She had been a patient at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, since last Thursday.

Born in Meadville on Aug. 13, 1971, Valerie was a daughter of Gary Winsor and Janice Dunton Winsor Thayer. She was married to Michael Steven Porter on April 8, 1995, and he survives.

Following graduation from Cambridge Springs High School with the Class of 1990, Valerie became a pharmacy technician. She was employed by Care Apothecary in Meadville for about 10 years. She then became a server at Venango Valley where she enjoyed working with Kim and Durbin. Valerie treasured her dogs, especially her two Corgis — Babe and Cash.

Surviving Valerie, in addition to her loving husband, is a twin daughter, Ashlee Deanne, and a twin son, Michael Steven, both living at home; her father, Gary Alan Winsor and his wife, Pat, of Saegertown, and her mother, Janice Thayer and her husband, Greg, of Cambridge Springs; her father and mother-in-law, John and Gigi Porter of Cambridge Springs; her grandmother, Betty Bisbee of Saegertown; her stepgrandmother, Norma Dunton of Arkansas; two brothers, Scott Alan Winsor and his wife, Christine, of Cambridge Springs, and Stephan Alan Winsor and his wife, Nikki, of Venango; a sister and brother-in-law, Todd and Marcy Confer of Venango; a stepsister, Melissa DeVore and her husband, Chris, of Cambridge Springs; several aunts and uncles, including Bonnie Winsor Banic, who donated her kidney in 2009 to provide Val with a better life; nieces and nephews, Mahayla and Carson Winsor; Lenny, Nick, and Marcy Winkler; Brandi and Logan; and Tony and Lucas Confer.

Valerie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sonny and Barb Winsor and Buck Bisbee.

Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 at Cambridge Springs First Baptist Church, 339 S. Main St., with the Rev. Daren Barnett, pastor, officiating.
