ATLANTIC — Mabel E. Ongley, 57, of 3481 Brick Church Road, Atlantic (Greenwood Township), died unexpectedly at 10:43 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in the Emergency Department of Meadville Medical Center, Liberty Street, of natural causes.

Mabel was born in Smicksburg, Indiana County, on Feb. 12, 1955, a daughter of the late Franklin M. and Ruby A. Truitt Ekis. On Jan. 30, 1976, she married Francis (Ike) Ongley, who survives.

She had been employed in the janitorial department of PPG Industries, Meadville, and most recently had been transporting the Amish.

She was a social member of Meadville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 and Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to her husband of 36 years, she is survived by two sons, Myron Ongley and his wife, Heather, of Espyville, and Ryan Ongley and his wife, Christine, of Cochranton; three sisters, Nancy Davison of Cochranton, Lilly Ekis of Atlantic and Robin Hays of Meadville; two brothers, Frank (Bud) Ekis of Atlantic, and Ken Ekis and his wife, Christina, of Atlantic; her father-in-law, Myron Ongley of Cochranton; and two grandchildren, Kurt Ongley of Cochranton and Sam Alford of Espyville.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Linda Deeter; a brother, John Ekis; a granddaughter, Valerie Ongley; and her mother-in-law, Donna Ongley.

Friends may call at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at rlsfh.com.

The funeral and committal service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Keeling of Reash Community Church officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery, Greenwood Township.
