William R. Henderson


July 16 — William R. Henderson, 92, a resident of the Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville, and formerly of East Springfield, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, July 15, 2006.

Bill was born in Pont on April 12, 1914, the son of the late Daniel and Hesper (Joslin) Henderson.

Bill retired as a diesel mechanic from the Girard Power Plant, and belonged to the West Springfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on puzzles, gardening, and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel (Thomas) Henderson, who passed away in 1984. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Walter Henderson; and two step-children, Barbara Russell and Allen Rhoades; several half-brothers and -sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Penny Henderson

Bill is survived by his wife, Clarice (Drury) Henderson, whom he married in 1985. He is also survived by five children, Dan Henderson and his wife, Sheila of Conneaut, Ohio, Ethel Workman and her husband, Butch, of Albion, Jim Henderson and his wife, Kay, of East Springfield, Linda Rea and her husband, Jim, of Cranesville, and Marge Miller and her husband, Dave, of Conneautville; two step-children, Nancy Bauer and her husband, Ross, of Franklin, and Elwin Rhoades and his wife, Marga, of East Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Vivian Rhoades; two sisters, Marion Porter of Meadville and Luella Wagner of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Betty Shauberger and her husband, Chuck, of East Springfield; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Monday from to 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, and are invited to attend Life Celebration services Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Klingler of the West Springfield United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
