CONNEAUTVILLE — Edward L. Linz Sr., 97, of 9108 State Highway 198, Conneautville, formerly of West Vernon Road, Conneaut Lake, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at Rolling Fields.
Edward was born in Carrick on Dec. 5, 1911, a son of the late John and Catherine LeJeune Linz. On Nov. 3, 1938, he married Irene Estelle Harouff; she preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 1988.
He was a partner in Linz Brothers Painting for most of his life until he retired.
He was a founding member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church and remained very active in the church all of his life.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Phillips and her husband, George, of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Edward L. Linz Jr. and his wife, Maxine, of Norrisville, and Tomas L. Linz Sr. and his wife, Marcia, of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Edward L. Linz III, Debbie Bish, Laurie Mosier, Tomas L. Linz Jr., Christopher (Andy) Linz, Michele Linz and Robert Phillips; 12 great-grandchildren, Davis and Evan Phillips, Carter and Isabella Linz, James and Jered Bish, Brandon and Benjamin Bradley, Adam Mosier, and Katelyn, Mandi and Michael Linz; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jimmy, Brandon, Patrick and Lindy Owens.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Joseph, Albert, Aloysius and John Linz; and four sisters, Ann Bushee, Clara Hood, Theresa McKiernan and Marie Douglas.
Visitation is today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake. A Rosary service will be conducted there today at 2 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Americas Church, Conneaut Lake, with Father Stephen Anderson as celebrant.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
