TOWNVILLE —
Lauretta M. Carpenter, 78, of Townville, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, following a brief illness.
She was born July 27, 1934, in Brookville, a daughter of James W. and Laura A. Wolfe Armagost. She married Jack H. Carpenter June 13, 1953, and he preceded her in death Feb. 19, 2003.
Lauretta was employed in production at Talon, had previously worked at Mercer Spring and Wire Company and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Townville, enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos and was well known for her baking, especially baking pies. She will be sorely missed by QVC, HSN, and her personal UPS man, Troy.
Survivors include three daughters, Anita Carpenter and her companion, Paul Seaman, of Meadville, Eileen Thomas of Meadville, and Amy Carpenter and John Palla of Townville; a son, Scott Carpenter of Meadville; six grandchildren, Joseph Carpenter, Adeline Thomas, Hugh Thomas, Jack Thomas, Robbie Snow and Rory Allen; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Martin, Marvin, Kenneth and George Armagost; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Susie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Lemuel Armagost; and two sisters, Jessie Donahue and Eve Tautmin.
Calling hours are today from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with, the Rev. Robert Fuller, pastor of Littles Corners United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
