CONNEAUT, Ohio —
Rose Theresa Atrozskin Thompson-Campbell, 82, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home with her sons at her side, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Rose was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Cleveland, a daughter of Lawrence and Catherine Ann Groski Atrozskin. She attended Beaver Center School until 1945, then went to Conneautville until 1949. In 1950, she married Melvin M. Thompson.

In 2008, Rose was given many awards from Conneaut Fire Department, the governor of the state of Ohio and the American Red Cross for saving nine people from a burning house on 15th Street in Conneaut. Rose enjoyed working in her garden and loved her cat and dogs. She especially loved spending time with her family and, most of all, playing with her grandchildren. She always looked forward to going to church on Sunday.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Richard Campbell; and her companion, Harold Harris.
Rose is survived by four sons and their spouses, Richard and Annette Thompson of Conneaut, William and Jean Thompson of Jefferson, Ohio, Lawrence and Debbie Thompson of Austinburg, and Benjamin and Nancy Thompson of Conneaut; a brother and his wife, Joseph and Onilee Atrozskin of Conneautville; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Ewig, interim pastor, officiating.
Burial of Rose’s ashes will take place at a later date at Conneautville Cemetery.
