Rilla L. (Pinky) Teutsch

CONNEAUT LAKE —

Rilla L. (Pinky) Teutsch, 82, of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center.

Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Kent, Ohio, she was a daughter of Adise LaVern Culver and Ila Mae Abbott Culver. She married Mike W. Teutsch on Nov. 21, 1983; he preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1992.

She attended Greenwood School in Geneva and Beaver Center School in Beaver Center. She had worked at Coney Island Diner in Sharon and Hotel Conneaut at Conneaut Lake.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was a past member of the Moose Club in Sharon; she loved to crochet (she made baby blankets for both of her grandsons); she enjoyed genealogy research with her sister Donna; enjoyed watching westerns; and she was still a huge fan of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she loved her pets (especially Nelly).

Pinky was a sweet person who was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a very tender person toward animals. When she was a little girl, she would dress her favorite cat in doll clothes and pull him around in her wagon; she said the cat loved the attention. Throughout her life she cared for many pets; her last furry friend was Nelly. Pinky’s caring extended to people as well. Many years ago while living in Sharon, she volunteered to read and to write letters for residents of one of the local nursing homes. Pinky enjoyed growing plants. She nursed her houseplants and looked forward to gardening season so she could nurture her tomato plants; tomatoes were her favorite food from the garden. She was a loving mom who shared the last 20 years with her son, James and his wife Robin. Watching her grandsons grow up was an added joy in her life. Ryan and Jordan were lucky to have such a loving “Gram.”

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Patricia Teutsch of Farrell and Michelle Teutsch of Sharon; a son, James M. Coxson and his wife, Robin, of Conneaut Lake; a stepson, Michael Teutsch and his wife, Pam, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Ryan Coxson and Jordan Coxson; three sisters, Donna Marshall and her husband, Grant, of Albion, Alice (Sally) Snyder of Springboro and Elizabeth (Liz) Felix of Clearfield; a brother, Robert Snyder of Conneautville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, John Culver and William Culver; and a young sister, Nancy Culver.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.

The memorial service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Brumagin of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake, officiating.

Interment will be in Linesville Cemetery.

In honor of what she supported, please feel free to contribute to The Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301; The Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335; or The National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, Va. 20190-5362.

Arrangements are in the care of Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake, Rocco R. Tedesco III, supervisor.
