ERIE — Betty Jean (Shallenbarger) Hughes of Erie passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at the Villages on Luther Square, Erie, from complications with a brain tumor.
She was born Aug. 28, 1930, a daughter of the late James Leon and Grace Irene Shallenbarger.
She had been employed at Perry Screw Machine for several years and retired in August of 2009.
Survivors include four daughters, Carol Foltz and her husband, Donald, of Spring, Texas, Mary Best and her husband, Wayne, of Meadville, Rita Emke of Vidor, Texas, and Bonnie Hoff and her companion, Norman Houk, of Meadville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours or services planned, and private burial will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., Cochranton.
The family suggests memorials may be made in Betty’s name to the Erie County Humane Society, 2407 Zimmerly Road, Erie, Pa. 16506.
