EDINBORO —
Roger C. McCoy, 72, of Edinboro, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at UPMC Hamot.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, on Nov. 21, 1939, he was a son of the late Glenn and Annabelle McCoy.
Roger served with the U.S. Army, and he had worked at Troyer’s for 18 years before retiring in 2002. He previously was employed at General Electric for 11 years.
Roger was a member of McLane Church in Edinboro and he served his Lord there. He enjoyed family and friends, and especially liked playing games and taking family on tractor rides. He loved helping his grandchildren learn to fish and seeing them catch some big ones, and he enjoyed hunting and making maple syrup.
Preceding him in death were three sisters, Grace, Kathy and Betty; and four brothers, Paul, Robert, Ray and Gene.
Surviving family members include his wife of 51 years, Dotty Colvin McCoy; two daughters, Sherry Haight and Renee Becker; a son, Tim McCoy; six grandchildren, Duane, Irene, Matt, Amanda, Corey and Kimmy; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Page and Hunter. Roger is further survived by six sisters, Donna Heebner, Margaret Cross (Jim), Glenda Bock, Janet Smiley (Ben), Sue Conley and Michelle Bullock; five brothers, Gary McCoy (Nancy), Richard McCoy (Alice), John McCoy (Nelda), Joe McCoy (Di) and Harry McCoy; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie St., Edinboro, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend funeral services there on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tom Shelow officiating.
Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery.
