Mary Jean Daddio Beier

FAIRMOUNT CITY — Mary Jean Daddio Beier, 70, of 693 Washington St., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Mary was born in Meadville, Jan. 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Anthony (General) and Frances Valella Daddio.

She was a very active member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She volunteered for funeral luncheons and took pride in helping to clean the church.

After 23 years of service, Mary retired in 2007 from the former Quality Markets, Meadville, where she had worked since 1984. From 1961 to 1966 she had been employed by the former Crawford Store, Meadville, as a sales clerk and also as a buyer for the teen department. While raising her two sons, Mary enjoyed being a full-time homemaker and a stay-at-home mom. She was a 1960 graduate of Meadville High School.

Mary was a member of the Italian Civic Club (ICC) Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crafting and collecting Campbell’s Soup memorabilia. She enjoyed volunteering at Active Aging, helping others and she loved baking, especially during the holidays. Her greatest love in life was being with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports.

Mary is survived by two sons, Robert F. Beier Jr. and his wife, Carrie, and Donald D. Beier, all of Meadville; three grandsons, Joshua Beier and his fiancée, Brittany Sorice, Justin Beier and Jared Beier; two sisters, Betty Giovanniello and her husband, Rinaldo, of Harrisburg, and Nancy Boland of Meadville; a brother, Anthony Daddio Jr. and his wife, Marlene, of Meadville; three nephews, Ronald Giovanniello, his wife, Kathy, and their children, Dominic and Natalie, David Giovanniello and his wife, Beth, and Tae Daddio and his wife, Jessica; and very special friends, Nancy and Donald Shea of Meadville.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph Daddio; and a nephew, Ryan Daddio.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10 a.m. Friday, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., or St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., all of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
