Betty Hope McKee

SAEGERTOWN — Betty Hope McKee, 84, of 654 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.

Betty was born in Hadley on Nov. 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Wilbert and Clara A. (Lannon) Short.

On Jan. 5, 1962, Betty married Richard E. McKee; he preceded her in death on May 29, 2005.

She was a very active member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.

Betty retired from the former GTI in 1972 where she had worked for more than 12 years. She had previously been employed by the former Talon Inc. of Meadville. Over the years, Betty served as a volunteer for Hospice of Crawford County.

Betty is survived by a son, Jerry McKee of Florida; a daughter, Betty Lou Conover of Hadley; two grandchildren, Gay Conover and Julie McGee; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marcella McGill of Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Richard, of 43 years, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and John Short; and two sisters, an infant twin, Isabell Faith Short, and Bethania Southall.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Saegertown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Custer, pastor, officiating.

Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, Pa. 16433; Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, Pa.; or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, Pa. 16433.
