Margaret Pauline (Peg) Dunn

SAEGERTOWN — Margaret Pauline (Peg) Dunn, formerly of Cochranton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, after a lingering illness.

Peg was born Oct. 23, 1934, to Harry and Ruth Karns Bean in Franklin, the 11th of 12 children.

She was a 1953 graduate of Cochranton High School and a member of St. Mark’s Church, where she was member of the Women’s Guild. She married Richard (Dick) Dunn on Sept. 30, 1972.

Peg leaves behind her four children, Paula (Mike) Gleeson of Casselberry, Fla., Cindy (Joe) Mirage of Cochranton, Karen Kiehl of Tampa, Fla., and Rick (Sharon) Dunn of Meadville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amanda Gleeson of Jupiter, Fla., Mark Smith of Wilmington, Del., Andrew Mirage and his fiancee, Allison Doyle, and Stephen Mirage of Cochranton, Megan Grunsten and her husband, Chris, of Riverview, Fla., Christopher, Jacob and Jeremiah Kiehl of Riverview, and Michael and Kaitlyn Dunn of Meadville. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Connor, Cody, Casey and Colton Dettman of Jupiter. She is survived by three brothers, her twin brother, Paul (Janet) Bean of Meadville, Dale (Wenna) Bean of Meadville, and John (Gail) Bean of Cochranton. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Charanne Bean of Salem, S.C., Melanie Bean of Youngsville, Carol Babbitt of Cochranton and Lynn (John) Wentworth of Guys Mills; brothers-in-law, John (Sandy) Dunn, Dan Kightlinger of Coudersport and Elwood Shreckengost of Utica; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her best friend and husband of 32 years, Richard (Dick) Dunn, who preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2004. Also, brothers, Clark, Robert, Lawrence, Wayne and Clair; and three sisters, Charlotte Shreckengost, Martha Shreckengost and Ruth Ann Stallsmith preceded her in death.

Peg worked for several years for various veterinaries in the Meadville and Cochranton area, including Dr. Arthur Langdon, Dr. John Anderson, Dr. Larry Spencer and Dr. Allen Stanton. She was instrumental in assisting Dr. Brian Langdon in setting up his first veterinary practice. Peg was a true lover of animals and rescued several dogs during her days working for the veterinaries.

One of Peg’s biggest victories and blessings in life was bringing together two families and making them one. There were never any “stepchildren” in the Dunn family. Peg was known for her quick smile and her sweet, gentle ways. She will be greatly missed by her children and family.

Friends may call at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alice McClymonds officiating.

Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.

The family asks that memorials be made to St. Mark’s Church of Christ, Franklin Pike, Cochranton, Pa. 16314; Crawford County Hospice, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Crawford County Care Center, 20881 State Highway 198, Saegertown, Pa. 16433.
