Marjorie (Mary) M. McHenry

MEADVILLE — Marjorie (Mary) M. McHenry, 79, of Randolph Street, Meadville, went peacefully home to be with our Lord and so many of her loved ones on Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, after a short illness.

She was born July 26, 1933, in Meadville, a daughter of Wallace Mattocks and Mildred Kightlinger Mattocks. She grew up on a farm with her family in Sugar Lake, and later Guys Mills. She married John McHenry and he preceded her in death.

Marjorie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, fishing, cooking and gardening. She was a fantastic housekeeper and was amazing at tending to the sick. Throughout her life, she privately cared for many sick and elderly, enabling them to stay home in the twilight of their lives. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could quiet a baby, make you laugh, and cook you the best mashed potatoes you ever had in the same moment. She was always there when you needed her. Her family will never forget her funny idioms and sayings. She will be dearly remembered and greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Mattocks of Saegertown and Marsha Luciano of Cochranton; a son, Garvin Mattocks and his wife, Beverly, of Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Bruce Mattocks, Jessica Steinberg and her husband, Taylor, Toni Babcock, Tom Luciano, Joletta Luciano, Michael Luciano, Luke Luciano, Stevie-Rae Luciano and Joseph Luciano; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Ours of Conneaut Lake, Evelyn Gosnell and her husband, Russell, of Meadville, and Kathy Rutter and her husband, Paul, of Venango; two brothers, Claire Mattocks of Erie, and Raymond Mattocks and his wife, Marilyn, of Cochranton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Charles Mattocks; and an infant daughter, Susan Marie Mattocks.

Arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the nurses at UPMC Hamot health center and all the friends who are helping us through this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Please sign the guestbook at hatheway-tedesco.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.
