Susan (Susie) K. Rudd

MEADVILLE — Susan (Susie) K. Rudd, 45, of Meadville, passed away at Meadville Medical Center on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was born March 9, 1967, in Meadville, a daughter of Robert E. Rudd and Joan L. Mix Rudd.

Susie was a 1988 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School. She was employed in the housekeeping department at United Community Independence Program.

She was of the Christian faith and had attended New Beginnings Church of God in Meadville. She enjoyed arts and crafts, shopping, sewing, music and playing the guitar. She was very active with UCIP and the ARC. She had taught sign language to preschoolers in Crawford County. She especially enjoyed camping with her friends. Susie will be most remembered for her kind heart, caring and considerate nature, her happiness and love for life, and her joyous laughter. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Susie is survived by her father, Robert Earl Rudd and his wife, Viola Yvonne, of Cochranton; a brother, Robert C. Rudd and his fiancee, Amy Savacheck (her caregiver and close friend since 2004), of Meadville; half brother Scott Hessler and his wife, Cindy, of Saint Augustine, Fla.; a stepbrother, Aaron Shkuratoff of Meadville; a close friend, Diane Gigone of Meadville; five nieces and nephews, Amanda Doubet Smith, Scott Alan Rudd, Jennifer Doubet Maloney, Troy Rudd and Rian Doubet; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and her many friends at UCIP, the ARC, and the Meadville and surrounding areas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Lorraine Rudd; and a brother, Tracey Alan Rudd.

Visitation will be held Friday at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2, officiated by Pastor David Brumagin, Meadville Medical Center chaplain.

Memorial contributions may be made to the UCIP, 17999 Cussewago Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335; or to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W 38th St., Erie, Pa. 16508.
