Paul R. Miller

CONNEAUTVILLE — Paul R. Miller, 91, formerly of Guys Mills and a resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, for the past four years, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born on April 13, 1921, in Meadville, a son of the late Stanley T. and Ida Bernice Wygant Miller. He married Lucy A. Davies on June 3, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2001.

Paul attended Meadville High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps 14th Air force in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was the recipient of several medals and citations, including the Asiatic-Pacific medal and China services medal.

Paul was employed at Avtex for 43 years, retiring as a foreman, and served as a Crawford County constable from 1971 to 1980.

He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234, Charles Stafford American Legion Post 111, and was a 50-year member of Randolph Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past scout master of Boy Scout Troop 8, Meadville, and Troop 215, Guys Mills.

He was a member of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills.

Survivors include two sons, Joel A. Miller of Guys Mills, and David T. Miller and his wife, Michele, of Shelby, Mont.; two daughters, Waunita Mason and her husband, Tim, of Conneautville, and Laura Moore and her husband, Richard, of Conneautville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lois Zuck and her husband, Edward, of Guys Mills, and Marilyn Granda of Guys Mills; a sister-in-law, Marcella Miller of Rockville, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney T. Miller.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Richard Moore, son-in-law, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
