GREENVILLE —
Virginia I. Artman, 91, of 40 Manor View Drive, Greenville, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Friday evening, Jan. 25, 2013.
She was born in Cochranton on Oct. 12, 1921, to the late Arden and Jennie Vaughn Peterson.
Virginia was a homemaker and an active member of Zions Reformed United Church of Christ in Greenville. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who loved her church. She was a member of the Past Timers group in New Hamburg and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved playing cards and belonged to many card clubs, including St. Paul’s euchre and 500 clubs, the Damon Club, her neighborhood club, and a Monday night friend’s club.
She married Earl Artman on Nov. 2, 1938; he preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1995.
Virginia is survived by three daughters, Carol Madden and her husband, Thomas, of Pulaski, Bonita Alexander and her husband, Mark, of Barre, Vt., and Marjorie I. Dluhos of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Glenn Peterson and his wife, Gail, and Stanley Peterson and his wife, Barbara, both of Meadville; two sisters, Marjorie Kerecman of Kirtland, Ohio, and Marilyn Livingston and her husband, Charles, of Greenville; 11 grandchildren, Mark A. Madden of Brookville, Rodney Madden of Front Royal, Va., Wendy Madden of Pulaski, Jennifer Artman of Charlotte, N.C., Kelly Bergen of Weymouth, Mass., Amy Thibault of Hull, Mass., Casey Sebesto of Jacksonville, Fla., Darcey Dluhos of Savannah, Ga., Caitlin Dluhos of Savannah, Ga., Graeme Alexander of Washington, D.C., and Emily Kerrigan of North Liberty, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Kaye Artman of New Bern, N.C.; and a brother-in-law, Richard Feldmiller of Conneaut Lake.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur L. Artman; seven brothers, Cecil Peterson, Robert Peterson, George Peterson, Carl Peterson, Donald Peterson, Clair Peterson and Lawrence Peterson; and two sisters, Eleanor Feldmiller and Janet Peterson.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Zions Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 Main St., Greenville, with Rev. Philip J. Garner, pastor, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church.
Burial with committal prayers will follow the funeral service on Tuesday at Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.
