When he lived in California, he was a member of the Optimist Club and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing pool and was a 40-year veteran member and player in the Sanctioned Valley 8 Pool League. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and gardening. One of his greatest achievements were the two cars he painted and were featured on the cover of “Hot Rod” magazine.
Besides his parents, Max was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Burnell Shull; a sister, Wilda Charlotte Shull; a stepdaughter, Tracy Ylisaari; and a brother-in-law, Cal Henry.
