NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. —
“Lee” Walker, engineer, musician and author, passed away at his home in North Plainfield, N.J., on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
He was born on June 30, 1930, in Linesville, a son of Frank and Mabel Walker.
He graduated from Meadville High School in 1948 and LaSalle University in 1962. Lee served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, and earned the National Defense Medal and the Navy Occupational Service Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Jeannie, Frank and Lorilee; stepsons, Mark and Norman; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lois, Patricia and Albert.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Londa; three brothers and a sister.
Lee was well-known for his leadership of the Stardust Big Band, and for his outstanding solo work on clarinet and saxophone. Lee had a long career as an electronics engineer, lastly at Lockheed Electronics. He also delved into psychology to a great degree and was a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology. He spent a good portion of his life developing a theory of the emotional self, which culminated in his writing of “Examine Your Emotions,” published in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Society of Plainfield, N.J., on Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
