LAKELAND, Fla. —
Steven Trace Allen, 62, of Lakeland, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Hospital following an unexpected heart attack.
He was born Aug. 25, 1950, in Meadville, a son of William R. and June Karns Allen. He married Barbara Mazan on Oct. 19, 2007.
Steven graduated from Meadville High School in 1968, a member of the senior six. He also graduated from Penn State University in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in computer science. He was an active member of The Way International, a biblical research ministry. He graduated from its leadership training program, The Way Corp, with a bachelor of arts degree in theology in 1990.
Steve recently retired from U.S. Airways but also had worked as a lifeguard, landscaper, security guard and computer programmer. When he wasn’t working, Steve was an avid sports fan participating in a variety of activities including biking and running marathons.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, Barbara, include a daughter, Rachelle Allen of Phillipsburg; a son, Matthew Shane Allen and his wife, Kara, of Morton Grove, Ill.; his mother, June Allen of Meadville; a sister, Cinda Bilinski and her husband, Jerome, of Meadville; two brothers, Mark Allen and his wife, Robin, and Douglas Allen and his wife, Jacqueline, all of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Emily, Hannah and Cassandra Allen.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Allen.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
