VENICE, Fla. —
Robert Lee Purdy, 75, of Venice, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
Bob was born May 25, 1937, in Clinton, to Olive (Douds) and James Lee Purdy.
Bob graduated from Grove City College and, after completing his master of business administration at New York University, he was employed at Koppers Co. in Pittsburgh, Talon in Meadville, and Werner Ladder in Greenville.
Throughout his life, he devoted much of his spare time to various community service organizations, often serving as an officer. Bob was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed extensive traveling.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Howard Purdy.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley; his son, Raymond (Emiko) Purdy of Mineral, Va.; daughter, Cynthia Purdy of North Port, Fla.; sisters, Joan (Paul) Mrha of Venice and Carole (Donald) Stewart of Venice; and granddaughter, Stephanie Purdy in the U.S. Air Force, MacDill, Tampa, Fla.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Venice.
Interment will be at the Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
