SAEGERTOWN — Shirley M. (Cole) Mitchell, 84, of 20881 State Highway 198, Saegertown, formerly of 16342 S. Shady Acres, Meadville, passed away, surrounded by her family on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Crawford County Care Center where she had been a resident since May 2012.

Shirley was born in Meadville on Nov. 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Harold F. and Kathryn (Dwyer) Cole.

Shirley retired after several years of service from K-Mart.

In her earlier years Shirley had been employed by the former Meadville A & P, the former Quality Markets and the former Super Duper. She was a graduate of the former St. Agatha Catholic School.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and visiting with her many friends at the Crawford County Care Center.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Karen Habada and her husband, John, and Eleanor Rush, both of Meadville; a son, Thomas Mitchell of Farmington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Veronica Nicholas and her husband, Andrew, of Olney, Md., and Matthew Rush of Garland, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Nicholas and Avan Nicholas, both of Olney, Md.

In addition to her parents, Harold F. Cole and Kathryn Cole Zober, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, Charles F. Cole.

Following the wishes of Shirley, there will be no calling hours or public service.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Care Center Activity Center, 20881 State Highway 198, Saegertown, Pa. 16433.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Crawford County Care Center for taking such wonderful care of Shirley during her stay there.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
