Alice M. Irons

CONNEAUT LAKE — Alice M. Irons, 84, formerly of Linesville, and for the past few years a resident of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville.

She was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Irwin, a daughter of the late Daniel and Alice Ewig. She married Gilbert Irons on Jan. 2, 1942, in Vanceberg, Ky. He preceded her in death July 5, 1988.

She was a graduate of Beaver Center High School. In her later years she and her late husband owned and operated the Pymatuning Camp Motel in Linesville. Previously she and her husband had assisted in the operation of the Irons Turkey Hatchery in the Linesville area.

She had an interest in crafts, floral and gardening and a devoted interest in her grandchildren. She was a Pink Lady volunteer at Okeechobee Hospital in Florida.

She previously was a member of Linesville Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Dennis and her husband, Karl, of Conneaut Lake; a son, Edward Irons and his wife, Anna, of Florida; five grandchildren, Kurt Dennis and his wife, Sarah, of Cochranton, Kip Dennis of Conneaut Lake, Elizabeth Ann, Eric and Jennifer Rae; eight great-grandchildren, Keyshaun and Karlie Dennis, Bethany, Alyssa, Serena, Jordan, Jeremy and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last survivor of 16 brothers and sisters and was the youngest.

The funeral will be March 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Geneva Faith United Methodist Church, with Pastors Lila Bachelier and Alice McClymonds officiating.

Interment will be in Linesville Cemetery.

The family expresses a special thanks to Kelly Harper, who provided personal care to Mrs. Irons prior to relocating to Wesbury. The family extends a sincere appreciation to the caring staff at Wesbury.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 15439 State Highway 285, Conneaut Lake, Pa. 16316.

Arrangements are in care of Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.
