UPPER ST. CLAIR — Martha L. Stephenson, 94, of Upper St. Clair and formerly of Meadville, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Pittsburgh.
She was born in Meadville on Feb. 14, 1916, a daughter of the late Frank B. and Addie M. Shaffer Clay. She married Leroy V. Stephenson on Nov. 3, 1936; he preceded her in death April 13, 1994.
A lifelong resident of Meadville, she was last a resident of Overlook Green Assisted Living in Pittsburgh. She enjoyed each day with her family and her life’s work was her family along with her church activities. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three children, Robert C. Stephenson of Pittsburgh, Martha L. Burger and her husband, R. Lyle, of Grafton, and James S. Stephenson and his wife, Carolyn, of Madison, Conn.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Tharon L. Summerill and his wife, Dianna, of Warren, Ohio.
A private memorial service will be conducted in Meadville at a later date.
