Virginia McDaniel Williams



GREENVILLE — Virginia McDaniel Williams, 97, of 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of 29 Goetsch Road, Sugar Grove Township, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Paul Homes.

She was born in Venango County on March 17, 1912, a daughter of Herbert H. Brink and Verna Nelson Brink. She married Earl B. McDaniel in November 1929; he preceded her in death in 1988. She then married Glenn B. Williams in 1992; he passed away in 2003.

She was a 1928 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Edinboro University. She worked as a medical assistant for 19 years at the Greenville Medical Clinic, for both Dr. Monroe and Dr. Stitt.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and was a member of Methodist Women and Ruth’s Circle.

She was an avid sewer, and during her youth she enjoyed participating in athletic events, and excelled at sprinting.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald A. McDaniel of North Arlington, Texas, and Ronald E. McDaniel and his wife, Janet, of Greenville; a stepson, Rodney Williams and his wife, Janice, of Greenville; four grandchildren, James McDaniel, John McDaniel, Sherri Hauser and Michele Orahood; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two infant children; a brother, Raymond Brink, and a daughter-in-law, Pauline McDaniel.

A private memorial service will be conducted on Friday in the chapel of Shenango Valley Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn Sadler, chaplain of St. Paul Homes, officiating.

Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.

Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 73 Clinton St., Greenville, Pa. 16125.
