Daniel L. Butcher

Daniel L. Butcher, 55, of 1120 Market St., Meadville, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born on July 19, 1954, a son of Joan Guenther Butcher of Meadville, and the late Raymond L. Butcher Jr.

He had been employed by Crawford Central School District, then he worked for Crawford County Control Dispatch until September 2001.

He was a member of St. Agatha Church, Meadville. He was a life member of the Crawford County Scuba Team, where he had served as an officer. He was also a life member of S.B. Dick Hose Volunteer Fire Department, Vernon Volunteer Fire Department and Meadville Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed coin collecting and World War 11 memorabilia.

Surviving is his mother, Joan Butcher of Meadville; two sisters, Kathy Blakeslee and her husband, Carl, of Cochranton, and Patty Peterson and her husband, Tom, of Meadville; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and his faithful cat, Mike, of 16 years.

In addition to his father, Raymond L. Butcher Jr., he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Butcher.

Calling hours will be on Saturday from 12:30 until 3 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m., with Deacon Matias Quimno of St. Agatha Church officiating.

Burial will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Meadville Fire and Rescue, 552 State St., or to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, both of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
