Dominic S. Petruso



Dominic S. Petruso, 98, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 393 John St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.

Dominic was born in Italy on Aug. 30, 1911, a son of the late Salvatore and Diana Rapp Petruso. On April 14, 1952, Dominic married Jeannette Quindardo; she survives.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

On Sept. 17, 1935, Dominic began his employment career with Channellock Corp. of Meadville. After more than 46 years of service in the filing department, he retired on Jan. 28, 1977. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, Dominic served his country from Sept. 17, 1942, until his honorable discharge on Jan. 8, 1946. During his tour, he reached the rank of sergeant.

Dominic enjoyed planting and caring for his garden. He was very proud of the vegetables he grew.

In addition to his wife, Jeannette, of 57 years, Dominic is survived by a niece and a great-niece.

In addition to his parents, Dominic was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph S. Petruso; and a niece.

At the family’s request, visitation will be private.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with Father Richard J. Toohey, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
