Mary E. Palchuck



Mary E. Palchuck, 83, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.

Born in Meadville on Dec. 7, 1925, she was a daughter of George and Pauline Barcz Palchuck.

She was a teacher of first grade at Cambridge Springs School for 39 years, with her master’s in teaching.

She loved her teaching career, was a very loving and giving person and especially loved her two cats, XJ and Shadow.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, and belonged to several bridge clubs.

She was a member of St. Brigid Church and the Altar Rosary Society, and was a Eucharistic minister and a sacristine at the church.

Survivors include a sister, Frances Buchanan of Meadville; very close family, David and Theresa Sekel of Meadville and their six children; and two nieces, Pauline Kindervater and Marilyn Richards, both of Bradford.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sophie Rock, Helen Cervone and Anna Sivik; four brothers, Anthony Budasky, Leonard Budasky, John Budasky and Ignatius Budasky; and her parents.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, with Father Rocco A. Tito of St. Brigid Church as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
