John Sestak



GIRARD — John Sestak, 73, of 9341 Eureka Road, Girard, died unexpectedly Monday, June 22, 2009, at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born March 24, 1936, in Stulany, Slovakia, he was a son of the late Jan and Anna Lunik Sestak.

John retired in 1998 after working many years as a machine operator at PHB. He enjoyed gardening, wine making and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed.

John was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Golias and Agnesa Vrab; and three brothers, Andrea, Joseph and Thomas Sestak.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marlene Susan Stancliff Sestak of Girard; a daughter, Jessica Sestak and her fiancé, Jay Angle, of Manassas, Va.; a son, John Sestak of Girard; a brother, Paul Sestak and his wife, Helen, of Stulany, Slovakia; three sisters, Maria Graf and her husband, Tony, of Girard, and Helen Ondik and her husband, Steven, and Milka Varga and her husband, Joseph, all of Slovakia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 W. Main St., McKean, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated there on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Mark Nowak as celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
