Rudolph (Rudy) Durec

Rudolph (Rudy) Durec, 77, formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at UPMC-Greenville.

Mr. Durec was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Ford City, a son of John Durec and Kathryn Busfyova Durec. Mr. Durec was married to Jacqueline W. Ritchey on Dec. 11, 1956; she preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2001.

Mr. Durec retired from PPG Industries after 42 years of employment. He was first employed in the Ford City plant then relocated to the Meadville plant and was last employed in management. Mr. Durec was a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake.

Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Slater and her husband, Doug, of Sandy Lake, and Melissa Johnston and her husband, Steve, of Pulaski; six grandchildren, Travis and Chauncey Johnston, Colton and Brandon Slater, and Evan and Kody Kardosh; and a son-in-law, Jon Kardosh of Conneautville.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Mindy Kardosh and Lori Lynn Durec; and an infant son, Stephen Craig Durec.

Rudy was a father who truly would do anything for his children; his pride and love for family and grandchildren was abounding.

Family wishes were for private visitation and services at graveside with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ford City.
