Mercedes Jones, 76, of 1120 Market St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Meadville Medical Center.
Mercedes was born in Aliquippa on July 6, 1933, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marion Sykes. On Dec. 10, 1955, Mercedes married Marion Jones Jr.; he survives
She was a member of St. John’s Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, Meadville.
For several years Mercedes had been employed by the former Mead Nursing Home, Meadville, as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). In her earlier years she attended Aliquippa schools.
Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting.
In addition to her husband, Marion, of 54 years, Mercedes is survived by two sisters, Doris and Geraldine; three brothers, Joseph, Leon and Barry; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mercedes was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Jones.
Services will be private and conducted at the convenience of family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
