Thomas Myers Bickell, 79, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of Montrose, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville.
Thomas was born in Delaware County on Feb. 13, 1931, a son of the late Ernest M. and Edna Marie Myers Bickell.
After 23 years of service, Thomas retired from G.E. in Norristown, where he had worked in the maintenance department as well as the tooling department. He previously had been employed as a certified air plane mechanic where he was based out of the Toledo Airport, Toledo, Ohio. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Thomas served his country honorably.
As a youngster, Thomas earned his Eagle Scout Award. He was an amateur inventor who enjoyed feeding the birds, bird watching and tending to his rose garden. He will be remembered as a kind man, especially to his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by a sister, Nancy Annemarie Chandler and her husband, Don, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother, John Grant Bickell of Meadville; a niece and three nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be private and conducted at the convenience of family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
