MEADVILLE — Saegertown Area Magisterial District Judge - Linda J. Shaffer, 31, of 267 McClellan St., Cambridge Springs, was bound over to the next term of court following a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Lincoln Zilhaver on charges of burglary, conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and corruption of minors. Cambridge Springs Police filed the charges for an incident Aug. 8, 2009. She was released on her own recognizance. Titusville Area Magisterial District Judge - Ronald G. Nichols, 29, of 33621 E. Freemont St., Apt. 204, Townville, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols and was bound over to the next term of court on a charge of simple assault and two summary counts. Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges for an incident Feb. 20. He was released on $10,000 non-monetary bond. Crashes State Police - Robert L. Herps Jr., 48, of Titusville, was driving south on Route 8 in Centerville at 1 a.m. May 25 when his vehicle struck a deer that had run onto the road. Herps was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and wasn’t injured. n Ronald R. Smith, 71, of North East, suffered a minor injury in a two-car collision at the intersection of Route 77 and Route 8 in Bloomfield Township that happened May 21 around 7 a.m. The incident occurred when the Chrysler Grand Voyager driven by Brian R. Steffey, 37, of Centerville, entered the intersection but failed to observe Smith who was headed south on Route 8 in his Buick LeSabre. The front end of the Smith vehicle collided with the Steffey vehicle’s right side. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. - No one was injured in a car-versus-deer incident that happened on Interstate 79 in Cussewago Township around 7:30 p.m. on May 22. The driver of the automobile was Kent J. Turk, 44, of Cooperstown. There were three others in the car, including a 17-year-old male, 23-year-old Jacquiline M. Turk and 51-year-old Teresa M. Turk. They were all wearing safety belts at the time of the accident. The car was towed from the scene. Crimes State Police - Burglary charges are pending against three identified suspects who were allegedly seen attempting to steal various items from a Cloverdale Road, Oil Creek Township residence between 11:30 and 11:35 a.m. May 24. - Someone broke into a Shartle Road, East Mead Township residence and stole several pieces of jewelry sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 25. - Someone entered a Grove Road, Randolph Township residence and stole a video camera, a digital camera and a jewelry box sometime between 8:20 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. May 26. - A 29-year-old Springboro man is accused of harassment after a verbal argument with a 22-year-old Springboro woman turned physical on May 23 at a residence on North Creek Road in Spring Township. The accused reportedly grabbed the 22-year-old by the neck and tried to choke her. He then grabbed a female juvenile by the neck who was trying to call police. He took the cell phone and smashed it, then grabbed the keys to first victim’s car and residence and then fled.
