PITTSBURGH — Meadville goalie Taylor Nickerson provided what head coach Jamie Plunkett called the only bright spot for the Bulldogs in their 4-1 loss to Bishop Canevin on Monday at the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center.

“We were out-shot 25-10,” said Plunkett. “Had it not been for Taylor, it would have been a much bigger margin.”

Clayton Stockton scored the lone goal for Meadville (4-5-1, 3-2-1 PIHL), knocking one in during a 3-1 second-period for Canevin (7-1 PIHL). Dean Wisinski and Bill Espy earned assists.

It was the fourth straight winless outing for the Bulldogs, who are 0-3-1 over that span.

“We are very much an offensively-challenged team right now,” said Plunkett. “For a team that’s struggling to score goals to only muster 10 shots ... it’s kind of hard to score goals when you won’t shoot the puck.

“The good news is,” Plunkett added, “we’ve got Peters Township coming in on Wednesday. And they’re undefeated.”

Meadville hosts the 7-0 Indians at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the MARC. According to Plunkett, it is the program’s first-ever time playing the night before Thanksgiving.
