Crawford County has plenty of beaches for area swimmers


Crawford County’s public beaches offer residents and visitors many

opportunities to get some good use of their swimgear and sunblock on hot

summer days.

Central Crawford County

n Col. Crawford Park is a 311-acre recreational area operated by county

commissioners. It has a 250-foot sand beach backed up by nine acres of grass

along Woodcock Creek Lane, located off Route 198.

The beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty

from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and no swimming is permitted without lifeguard

protection.

Swimming costs are $1 for persons above age 6; under 6 are admitted free.

Season passes are available for individuals or families at $15 and $25,

respectively.

Southwestern Crawford County

n Pymatuning State Park has five protected beaches around Pymatuning Lake,

four of which are open to the public. One beach is specifically for

Jamestown campground users.

The beaches open Memorial Day and remain open until Labor Day. Lifeguards

are on duty daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

n Fireman’s Beach, located along the shores of Conneaut Lake, is open daily

from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The beach also has a

boat launch, playground, concession stand and picnic shelter available for

public use. There is no charge for park admission but there is a $2 parking

fee. Also on the west side of Conneaut Lake, there is a public beach at

Conneaut Lake Park.

Northeastern Crawford County

n Canadohta Lake Park has a public beach open daily from Memorial Day to

Labor Day. Facilities include a water slide, beach and bathhouse. Lifeguards

are on duty beginning at 11 a.m. and stay, weather permitting, until around

dusk.

Swimming costs are $1 for anyone over age 3 and free for those under age 3.
