Every year Meadville Tribune photographers, writers and editors take somewhere in the neighborhood of 200,000 photographs, covering news, sports, local portraits and just pictures out-and-about of people doing the things that they do. Of these many thousands of images snapped, only about 3,000 make it to the pages of the newspaper. Another couple thousand might make it into slideshows or galleries on the web.
To look back at 2012 we have put together a slideshow that encapsulates what we see during the year. Some are serious images of serious matters such as a manhunt or a fire; others are slices of life from the sidelines of a ball game or in a park. There are portraits of people who did something noteworthy to have a story written about them, and of course we couldn’t forget local high school and college sports.
All of these images together form a mosaic of who we are as people living in northwestern Pennsylvania.
